Engineered Hardwood Flooring in Colorado provided from Western Hardwood Outlet
Necessary for any type of sub-flooring, including concrete slabs engineered hardwood flooring options are very popular. While this product can be nailed or glued to the sub-floor, it can also be floated over the sub-floor. This allows for a great deal of diversity and allows hardwood floors to be installed in places where this was not possible in the past.
The question most asked by consumers is, “Can an engineered floor be refinished?”. The answer to this depends on the quality of engineered flooring. This is determined by the thickness of the top veneer layer. Some ultra-thin floors have veneers of only a 1/16" and cannot be refinished. This provides a product life-span of about 30-40 years. Others have top-layer veneers with of 1/4". These stack right up there with solid hardwood floor options and can be sanded and refinished many times. These product life-spans are more in the 60 – 100 year range with proper care.
Many of the same grain patterns and finishes that make solid hardwood floors so desirable are available in today’s engineered floors. Therefore they provide an attractive cost-savings alternative.
